    Welcome to my Site

The Purpose is to Present some of my current and past works of Art.

Most of my work is visual art done as painting. However, experimentation with different types of media and materials, both 2D and 3D, is something I pursue and enjoy. I'm also interested in more contemporary type work. Example: the piece 'Notice has been given by Him' not only is the image & Story here but also included T-shirts, handouts a video & fliers.

The subjects of my works are generally in the abstract / surreal areas with a focus on abstract objects using bright / contrasting colors and forms. The process of bringing an idea to life is a never ending thrill and surprise for me. The purpose is to cause some thought or at least to bring to mind the question: 'What is that?'

After photography was invented and became an artform of it's own (think of the powerful photos of Ansel Adams or the fantastic images of Kahn & Selesnick and many others), impressionism painters began to interpret images they saw and a new world was opened. Detailed still life or realistic paintings have always been and still are amazing, but when you combine realistic painting with a surreal or abstract subject, WOW. Just look at the images created by Magritte, Tanguy, Sage, Dali, Kandinsky, Carrington, Max Ernst and so many others. These are images you will not see anywhere else and therefore are very special. You can walk into a million kitchens and see a bowl of fruit but where are you going to see a steam train coming out of a fireplace?

I hope you find something interesting. Enjoy.
